2026 has been a milestone year for Forest Energy. Our work across commercial solar PV and battery energy storage has been recognised with a series of industry awards, reflecting the engineering quality, scale, and impact of the projects our team delivers for South African businesses.
Herholdt's Group Cape Town Commercial Project of the Year 2026
Our flagship recognition came from the Herholdt's Group, who named our installation at The President Hotel in Bantry Bay the Cape Town Commercial Project of the Year. Five sites across the Western Cape were considered for the category, and the President Hotel project was selected as the winner after being evaluated across four criteria:
- Scale of the installation
- Complexity of the project
- Product specification
- Overall execution and quality of the completed work
The President Hotel system combines a 149 kWp solar PV array with 1.2 MWh of SigEnergy battery storage, configured for energy arbitrage to maximise savings by shifting stored energy into peak tariff periods. It is a strong example of how a well-engineered hybrid system can cut costs and improve energy security for a demanding hospitality operation.
SigEnergy Gold Installer Award
Forest Energy was awarded SigEnergy Gold Installer status, recognising our team's excellence in the design and installation of commercial battery energy storage systems. Battery storage is at the core of what we do, and this award reflects the depth of our technical capability in this space.
Sungrow Excellence Award
We were also recognised by Sungrow with an Excellence Award for the quality and delivery of our commercial solar PV projects, reinforcing our partnerships with the global technology leaders whose equipment underpins our installations.
Industry Impact and Powering the Future
Two further awards recognised our broader contribution. The Industry Impact Award acknowledged the difference Forest Energy is making in South Africa's renewable energy sector, while the Powering the Future Award recognised our impact in the education sector through renewable energy projects rolled out across multiple campuses.
